From the next update the Eternals rank every character that plays online. Until now only Self-Found characters had a place on the boards. A character that banks in the shared stash, the Account-Found kind, never appeared anywhere.
Each mode now has two Eternals boards, one for each kind. The first time an Account-Found character plays with the game online, it joins its board at the level it already has and climbs from there like any other: every level, and the experience earned past the cap. Older characters join the same way on their next session. A hardcore fall shows on its board with the skull.
The two kinds never share a board. A Self-Found character starts with nothing and banks alone, while an Account-Found one can open the shared stash on its first day and walk out in the best gear the account owns. Ranking them together would be a fair climb for neither.
The Reckoning stays Self-Found only for the same reason. It is a race from a fresh start to the Dark Lord's fall, and a character dressed from the shared stash does not start fresh. The Self-Found chat channels stay theirs too.
The Herald now speaks for both kinds, and each kind hears only its own news. A Self-Found player sees the Self-Found firsts, leads and hardcore falls, an Account-Found player sees the Account-Found ones, and every line says which, as in Maren the Witch is the first to reach Level 10 as Self-Found.
Press L in the game to open the board. A new switch under the mode button picks the kind, and it opens on your own character's kind. The ladder on the title screen and the ladder page on this website have the same switch.
