Dreadmark is made by Agentas, a small independent studio. This page explains, in plain language, what information the game and this website collect, why, and who it's shared with. We don't sell data, and we collect as little as the game actually needs to work.
Buying and running the game
Dreadmark is sold and delivered through Steam. Steam handles your purchase, payment details, and account — we never see or store your payment information, and Valve's own Steam Privacy Policy governs that relationship, not this one.
When you launch the game, it reads your Steam ID and Steam persona name from Steamworks to authenticate you for online features (see below) and to run Steam Cloud saves and Steam Achievements — both standard Steamworks features, stored via Valve's own systems.
The ladder and online features
Dreadmark has an optional online ladder for competitive leaderboards. If you opt in, you choose a display name (filtered for profanity) and your run data — score, timing, and a signed record of what happened during the run — is sent to our server to validate the result and rank it. This exists to keep the ladder honest, not to track you: we don't collect your email, real name, or IP-linked profile beyond what's needed to stop cheating and show the leaderboard.
Playing offline/single-player never sends this data — it's opt-in, tied to the ladder feature specifically.
Anonymous error reports
The game can send anonymous crash and error reports to help us fix bugs — enabled by default, and you can turn it off any time in the in-game options. These reports are stripped of personal information (file paths, usernames, etc. are removed before anything leaves your machine) and contain only the error type and a technical stack trace, not gameplay data or identity.
The community
Our Discord server and any social channels are run on their own platforms, governed by their own privacy policies (Discord's is at discord.com/privacy). Joining is entirely optional and separate from playing the game.
This website
This site (dreadmark.agentas.net) doesn't use tracking cookies or analytics. It's static hosting — the host may log basic technical request data (like any web server), but we don't use it to identify individual visitors.
What we don't do
We don't sell or rent your data to anyone. We don't collect more than the above, and we don't use any of it for advertising.
Children's privacy
Dreadmark isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect data from children under 13 beyond what Steam itself already requires for account age.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will also be noted in the devlog.
