The Herald Learns Your Name

October 3, 2026

The Herald now says who you are. When someone is the first to reach a level, or the first to bring down the Dark Lord, the line in chat names the character and the class instead of an account.

The Herald used to announce an account name with a number on the end, in a pop-up box. Now it speaks in chat, as The Herald, and a line reads like this: Maren the Witch is the first to reach Level 10. A hardcore fall names the character too.

There is a new first to claim as well. In each mode, the first ladder character of the season to slay the Dark Lord is announced once, in that mode's chat. Softcore and hardcore are separate worlds, so each mode hears only its own news.

Climb from level 2 to level 5 in one go and you claim the levels you skipped without a line in chat, so nobody is ever called the first to a level someone already passed. Level 1 is never a first. A line still only appears for a run the board can prove.

Each row on the boards shows that character's own name, so a second character stands on its own line instead of borrowing the first one's. The account name moved into the detail view. Click a row and the figure on the board now stands there whole, with the account named under the title. A burst of level-ups is reported one after another, and the newest one now retries after a short wait, so a fast climb does not stall on the board.

A world-first in chat now carries the name of the character who earned it.
