The demo is a slice. It's a proper one, played and tuned and upfront about what it is, but it's still a slice. Some of what we've been building lives on the far side of it, in the full game, and this round two of those things got far enough along that we can finally talk about them out loud, though we won't be showing them.
First, you won't walk alone forever. Wander the demo's camp and you'll find a shut Hiring Post, and a man named Osric standing near the vendors who'll tell you, plainly, that hirelings come with the full game. He's not lying. A companion is coming. She levels beside you, wears the gear you hand her, and fights with the same battle brain our test heroes use, the one we've spent months making smarter and will keep making smarter. She'll be hard-won and expensive on purpose, because bringing a second sword to the fight should feel like it changes everything.
Second, the graveyard won't be the only ground you walk. The world you're seeing is hand-built, and it will stay hand-built where it counts. Underneath, though, we've been teaching the game to grow ground and lay out new crypts and caverns and tunnels that feel authored rather than shuffled. It isn't in the demo, and we're not ready to show it. But the reason the demo's world can stay a tight, deliberate slice is that the full game's won't have to.
The whole point of a demo is to be clear about the part you can hold, and clear that there's more behind the gate. Wishlist Dreadmark if you'd like to be there when it opens.
